How to fix "Opening File" ErrorsHey guys. Some of you may have newly installed cars, but can't access them either in the Showroom or on the track because you're getting a file opening error. For example, some common errors: Opening LIGHTFLARE.GFX, FR-S.mas, GT86_BRZ.mas, or any other vehicle's .mas errors.
Here is how you can troubleshoot these errors:
Vehicle (.mas, .gen, etc.) Errors How can you tell it's a Vehicle file error? When the error pops up, look if it has the car name in the file that cannot be opened.
Example: jzx100_chaser.mas
How to fix the error? If it is a .mas file, make sure it is in your Mod's Vehicle Directory, and not your car's directory.
Example: For Project D cars, every single .mas file should be in: rFactor\GameData\Vehicles\Project_D 2.0.
If it still shows an error, simply go back in the downloaded WinRAR or Zip file and copy it into the Mod's Vehicle Directory.
If it is any other file like .gen, .pm, etc. you would want to make sure those files are in the car's directory.
Example: A JZX100_Chaser_spinner.gen error. Make sure that file is under rFactor\GameData\Vehicles\Project_D 2.0\Toyota Chaser JZX100
Shared (.GFX, .mas, etc.) Errors
How can you tell it's a Shared file error? When the error pops up, look if the car's name is not in the file's name that cannot be opened.
Example: LIGHTFLARE.GFX ~ Not a car's name.
How to fix the error? Make sure there is a folder with the mod's name in the Shared folder. If there isn't, go into the downloaded WinRAR or Zip file you have for the mod and install the mod's Shared folder.
The Shared folder is here: rFactor\GameData\Shared
If the mod's folder is in there, and you still are receiving the error, re-install the folder, or just the file(s) you are getting an error with.
Following these troubleshoot steps should fix your errors!
