Please, spread the news. How it's going down: Throughout the course of the week I will be taking in video submissions of your best runs @ Ebisu Minami, where a full run will be considered the same section used in the D1GP. At the end of the week, I will review each and every submission and declare a winner, using the same judging methods also found in Formula D & D1. Judging will be firm and fair, and not influenced by which entry looks the coolest. The winner will receive the prize of a customized car part, or parts, of their choice (details below). Rules: Solo Runs only. Tandem entries will either not be accepted, or any other cars present will not be taken into consideration for judging. Rear Wheel Drive vehicles are required. Just as it is with real drift competitions, the differences in behavior between RWD and AWD make the two incomparable, and thus only one can be used for proper competition. RWD is the popular platform. The track used must be an unaltered version of "*Ebisu Minami Circuit and School Course 1.00" by SmakzZ, which is the most common and most used version of Minami found in rFactor. It is listed as Ebisu > Ebisu Minami Circuit in the track selection menu. DOWNLOAD HERE Video submissions are required to use the tracks default trackside cinematic camera, this ensures each video clip can be compared as accurately as possible. Video submissions must be unedited.* However, you may include intro's, outro's, and music / sound effects. Cars should be reasonably setup and tuned. If it is apparent that your car is considerably quicker, has a higher steering angle, higher power, or applies copious amounts of grip when put into comparison with the majority of submissions, it may be deemed invalid. Submitted runs should start and end at the Start and Finish lines marked in the image below: How to score big points: The green areas highlighted on the image above represent the clipping zones that will be used for judging. Try your best to create a line that makes contact with each of the clipping zones, and hold it there for as long as possible without causing dramatic speed loss, angle loss, or cleanliness. As usual, the faster your entry speed and higher your angle, the better. Falling short of, or overshooting clipping zones will both have an equally negative effect on your overall score. Each submission will be judged and weighed in the following format, with the beginning of the list taking priority over what follows: LINE > ANGLE > SPEED => STYLE / CREATIVITY The following video highlights the areas seen above, while using the proper video requirements for submissions: How to enter: To enter into the competition, simply make a clear recording of yourself drifting on the required track and in compliance with all of the stated rules, then upload your recording to either a file hosting service (Mediafire, 4shared, Mega, etc..), or upload it to a video streaming service (Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook, etc..), and finally send me a private message here on the JDM Factor forum containing a link to the video or download. Alternatively you can just post the link to your video in this thread for everyone to see, but that might just make everyone else try harder to best you Due Date: November 23rd, which will be 1 week from now. Minor exceptions can be made. Prizes: Unfortunately I can't offer much in the way of prizes just yet, hopefully if the event is a success I will be able to get some help in the creation of more prizes for future events. So this time around there will only be 1 prize awarded to the sole winner: Choice 1) One custom made 1-off part, of your choice, for any car you want. Supply me with the name of the part, and/or reference pictures, and I will create the part and install it onto any vehicle on rFactor. Ex: An HKS HI-Power exhaust tip put onto the S13v2? Done. Ex: A vented Seibon hood put onto the PD HCR32? Done. Choice 2) Two part conversions, from any car from any game, for any car you want. (Author permission will need to be verified, if required) Find a car part you want that's already on another car, from another rFactor car, from Forza, from NFS Shift...etc, I will convert it and install it onto any car in rFactor. Ex: You want a Chargespeed hood for an RX7 from Juiced 2? Done. Ex: A C-West wing from Forza 4, for an S14? Done. So...yeah, that's the jist of it. At the end of the week when all submissions have been reviewed, they will be mixed into a countdown compilation for everyone to view, and see how they compared to the other drivers here on rFactor, with scores & names present on screen. The entire point of this was to hopefully get something going within the rFactor community, especially on the public side of things. Even if you are not immediately interested, reconsider your stance just for that point alone. ...and for anybody that might be interested, I'll further explain the prizes: Option 1) A 100% custom made car part (bumper, wing, roof wing, wheel, mirror, grill, etc...), made by me, of your choice, for any car you want. So pretty much, you give me the name of any car part in existence or a reference picture(s), I make it into a 3d model, and then I install it onto any vehicle of your choice in rFactor. You want an INGS R-Spec front bumper for the SP Mod 180sx? Done. Option 2) 2 Part conversions from any game, for any car you want. Find a car part from another rFactor car you want put onto another car of your choice, or find a car part from another game of your choice, and I will put it onto any car you want. Like one of the big spoiler options found on some of the SP Mod cars, but want it on the PD Mod R32? Done. Want the Top Secret spoiler from the Forza 4 Top Secret S15 DLC put onto the PD S13v2? Done. So come on now, we need more entries! cunts.

I've decided to include the results as part of the video compilation I promised, which should be posted in the next few days. This saves me from having to deal with working on the prize and the video at the same time, but all will come in due time, so stay tuned! ---------------- Video may take a while longer. My afternoon shift hours don't allow for a lot of online time, I figured this may be a problem from the start but at least it's a guarantee things will get done on the weekend.

Forgot to include this above, but here's the breakdown on the judging (between the Top 2): * = Section win Entry: Dave: Smooth & fast, on line, very clean. --- Notorious: Ridiculously fast, on line, and that enormous jump. * Notorious gets the win on the entry, not entirely based on the jump itself, but based on the difficulty that usually comes with being able to land and control a jump of that caliber smoothly. Wallrun #1: Dave: Low angle transition from entry, with a good kick out for more once near the wall, resulting in a good clean & long run. --- Notorious: Perfect transition from the entry landing into a consistent angle, long wallrun. * Notorious gets the win the first wallrun, mostly because of the consistent & higher angle. Both Dave & Notorious stay on the wall for a nearly equal amount of time, and Notorious carries more speed through with no correction. Sweeper: Dave: Slightly over the line/zone, solid angle. --- Notorious: Slightly short of the line/zone, slightly higher angle. * Turn-Around: Dave: Near perfect, on point on both entry and exit of the turnaround with a solid consistent angle. * --- Notorious: Way off line, but keeps it tidy with a brush to the outside line, and gets a lot of angle on the exit, without speed loss, almost in compensation. Inside Flick: Dave: Nearly perfect again, right on the line. * --- Notorious: Not quite as close, but slightly more angle. Wallrun #2: Dave: Very clean, good angle and good distance. --- Notorious: Very clean as well, with an identical angle, but just slightly closer to the wall. * The biggest deciding factor would've been the Entry + Wallrun + Sweeper, which is the 'main' half of the course that matters the most, as it carries the most speed and the biggest angle, making it much harder to perfect than what follows. Couple that with the divided section wins, and that is primarily how the winner was decided. Now because this is the very first event, it's going to be prone to faults. The judging here was primarily done between me & 2 other friends, based on our drifting knowledge and attempting to be fair. That said, if anyone would like to make a point of discussion about part of the judging that they feel may be wrong, or make a suggestion, *PLEASE DO!* Really, I want as much feedback as possible, even if it leads to a flame war, to be able to make future contests better.

I was curious! No grievances with your judging. Quite the opposite, I think you've judged it smartly and fairly. It was bloody close, I reckon! But Notorious won it fair and square, and you called it. Congrats, Notorious! Good, well-thought judging of the entry, in particular. "Notorious gets the win on the entry, not entirely based on the jump itself..." is a good call. I'm glad that a kick-arse jump didn't distract you from the rest of the judging criteria. Perhaps my only points to raise regard the track limits. I think a set starting point would be good, as everyone started their runs in different places, which obviously has an effect on entry speed which has an effect on the evaluation of the run. Obviously things like power alter the entry speed too, but it would be good to limit that variable a little. And the other point on that topic is that I thought the outside rumble strip on the sweeper was fair game, purely because the rumble strip itself was highlighted in your demo video, and kinda re-enforced by being allowed to jump over the white line on the entry. So yeah, an incorrect assumption on my part, but in future it'd be good to know either "x is the clipping point, spec- ifically this line, this area, whatever", or a blanket "two wheels within the white lines" rule. Good on you for taking feedback, too. I hope it's helpful and I'm not being too pissy haha! Looking forward to the next competition. I'll be gunning for the win!

Even though I included a Start/Finish point in the birds-eye view picture, I still should have reinforced it in the demo video to make it clearer for everyone, and listed it as a rule to start from the designated area, which would definitely have resulted in Notorious having a slower entry. The sweeper, again your right that next time around I definitely need to make it more clear as to what the sweet spot is each corner, especially when it's completely normal to see people jumping the lines on entry on every run. Not to mention using the default track cam to highlight it sure didn't help making it entirely visible. ....yup, knew this would happen Obviously it's too late to recalculate, so I won't even bother looking back over it, but you've given me two really good points to keep in mind for the next comp.
